Lean Design

Lean Design is Bjerking's newest service, which means that the client only signs one contract for a co-ordinated and complete design commitment. 30% of construction errors today come from design errors only mainly caused by poor communication. This can be avoided by giving the right person the correct information at the right time, and by all actors working with a shared information database. Using 3D and BIM design, a shared model is created, where building elements and M&E Services can be co-ordinated. From this model, quantity data are also easily extracted to be used for cost estimates, energy analysis, etc.

The Lean Design service gives the client security and comfort, with one design partner who is responsible for the entire project design. The client can expect cost-effective solutions and total design commitment of the correct product, to the right cost, at the right time, and according to a well-defined process. Through simple 3D visualisations, “virtual design reviews” are made possible, so that the client can see the end result before construction begins. When the client is satisfied with the reviews, the detail design of the BIM model starts. All designers work with the same model, and by using automatic collision control at an early stage enables us to identify and correct design problems immediately.

Traditionally, the construction industry is fragmented, with many specialized companies involved. Bjerking tries to erase the boundaries using interdisciplinary teams with a common value-system and continuous improvements. Even though Bjerking is a relatively small company, all technological expertise in the construction field can be found here under the same roof.
